My husband is going to be working in the area for 3 days in June and I am coming with him. We have booked the Kon Tiki Hotel.
Can anyone suggest things I could do while he%26#39;s working? I will not have the car so will be reliant on feet or taxi! I%26#39;m not too adventurous on my own but don%26#39;t want to spend all the time just by the pool.
Thanks
3 days on my ownI think that it will be hard to see the area without a car. YOu might take an organized bus tour. I fyou google PIsmo Beach tours you will find some. I cannot recommend a particular one. They go wine tasting, to hearst Castle etc. Pismo is primarily a beach town so of course you can go to the beach, and shop or take walks, maybe geta amni/pedi or a massage etc.. Maybe you could drop your hubby off and take the car.
3 days on my ownThanks
What is in the town? It looks like I can walk along the beach to it from the hotel.
Hi,
I wholeheartedly agree with ';riffsmom.'; A tour is definitely the way to go. It would be a shame to spend all 3 days in Pismo (which is nice, but you are coming from such a distance), and miss the great area attractions. Hearst Castle is a must-see (do a search on line %26amp; check it out; it%26#39;s amazing), and the Paso Robles area wine tasting is just wonderful; I love it better than Napa. You are also very close to San Luis Obispo, which is a pretty town with an historic mission. The beach can be quite foggy in June; it%26#39;s hit or miss. Enjoy your trip!
Take a look at www.classiccalifornia.com and www.pismobeach.com
They give ideas for activities , tours, walks, special events etc.
You will love Pismo Beach. Here%26#39;s some things I have put together on Pismo that may help you! Have a great time! :)
There is a outlet center for your shopping needs. There are some cute shops along the pier. Go and eat the chowder at Splash, the place always has a line but its worth it.
I%26#39;ve been going to Pismo since I was a kid (40+ years). I like it but there is not a lot to do w/o a vehicle. We usually just relax on the beach.
From the Kon Tiki you can easily walk around town (be sure and get a cinnamon roll at Old West). If you like to fish you can fish off the pier without having a fishing license. I agree with the previous posters that you need to see Hearst Castle ( I recommend making a reservation ahead of time). Paso Robles is nearby and home to some excellent wineries. It would be cool to rent a convertable for the day, drive to Hearst Castle %26amp; hit a few wineries on the way back. (Maybe I should try this myself).
There are some nice golf courses nearby. You can rent a horse in Oceano (about 12 minutes away) and go for a 1-2 hr guided horseback ride down on the beach. For evening entertainment there%26#39;s the Great American Melodrama in Oceano. It%26#39;s kind of like vaudeville. My whole family likes to go there. There%26#39;s also a movie theater complex in Arroyo Grande just south of you on 101. Have fun.
Thank you all very much for your comments %26amp; suggestions - I am really looking forward to our trip!
