Early November question....

I am looking at planning a trip to DL the first weekend of November - but an unsure whether or not this is considered a peak time or not. In the past, we%26#39;ve gone in October and it%26#39;s like a ghost town, does this hold true for the time frame after Halloween and before Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays?

Also, I am seriously considering staying at the Disneyland Hotel just for fun. Is it worth it?

Thanks.

Early November question....

I don%26#39;t think you would have any problems. Darkbeer could probably give you a more definite answer though.

Early November question....

Hi, we went to Disneyland last November from the 3rd -13th November and it was wonderful. The crowds were minimal, it was excellent.

Waiting for rides was no problem, walked straight on.

Have fun.

You should be fine - its not the lowest attendence time, but its definitely one of the slower periods.

It%26#39;s just as well you%26#39;re not going again in October this year - they expect it to be more crowded than normal, since that is when the 50th celebration is supposed to end, and Disney is planning a big marketing push to get more locals to come in ';before the magic ends.';

Actually, the current plans have Disney ending the 50th in late September, followed by special Halloween decorations and fireworks in October, and then the Christmas season starting November 10th.

As for staying on-property, some folks swear by it, but IMHO, all 3 hotels are overpriced, and the hotels on Harbor across from the park are as closer or closer than the Disney owned ones.

Many people only want a bed and a shower, some want a free breakfast, etc.....

Decide on what you are looking for in a hotel, then check out the reviews here at TripAdvisor.

For example, I usually stay at the Howard Johnson%26#39;s when I need a hotel room, it costs 1/2 the price, if not less than the Disney owned ones, has free internet, large rooms, great pools and grounds, and a fantastic staff, plus no parking hassles.

resaben and Darkbeer - what months are best to go to Disneyland when attendence is at is slowest??

megan

Tough question to answer, since a lot has to do with promotions that Disney offers to locals.

It seems to be that May has been the slowest month this year (January thru April had a 1/2 price special), especially the weekdays.

In the past, September thru early November has been lite, but Disney has a few things planned for this year, including the end of the 50th, the Halloween decorations and other things....

Since Disney has not announced the specials for the Fall, especially the discounts on tickets, nobody really knows....

thank you Darkbeer.

I have been 4 times in November, once in December and once in March. I have found November to be the best time.

I%26#39;ve also found the fall period (September through early November) to be the best time to go - its also my favorite time of year in general. So I%26#39;m a little sad that the parks will be busier through that period, but general guess. Though the first week of December has been traditionally slow as well (with the exception of %26#39;05, when the 50th celebration changed all attendance levels, lol).

Thanks for the clarification, darkbeer, I don%26#39;t know where I got the idea that the celebration was ending in October!

As for Disneyland hotel, I can say that its been nice for us, and usually the service is great (though I%26#39;ve also heard accounts of the opposite for some people) - so I can see why some people want to stay there or another Disney property. For them, its part of the experience. I guess its best to think about how you%26#39;ll be spending your time - many times we travel like Darkbeer described, wanting just a place to sleep and shower, and thats the only time we even are in our room. Other times we want a place that makes us feel pampered, and like we%26#39;re actually getting away, because we%26#39;re going to be enjoying the days at a more relaxed pace.

Your own priorities in your trip will probably tell you whether its worth it to stay at DH or any of the other Disney hotels.

Thanks for the input, everyone. It really helps.

I had not thought about the 50th stuff ending - good thing Darkbeer brought it up!

We usually stay off property, but I got a wild hair and just wondered if it would be worth to stay on property once. I%26#39;m thinking....no. LOL!

This helps a lot...thanks again!
