We%26#39;ll be arriving at SFO this Wednesday at 12:30. We%26#39;re going to immediately pick up our car and head to Muir Woods (then Sonoma). We%26#39;ll need to get a quick bite to eat probably before we get to Muir Woods, but we really don%26#39;t want ';fast food';. Are there any places along the way that you%26#39;d recommend? Because of limited time, it would probably be better to grab something and eat on the road. Maybe a good deli right off the highway or near the airport?
Thanks!!
Looking for a quick bite to eat between SFO and Muir WoodsIf you take Lombard Street thru S.F. to the bridge, there are numerous delis along the way. Lombard is ';motel row,'; so it also has restaurants.
A snack bar is at the south end of the bridge. This might qualify as fast food--sandwiches, hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, etc.
If your airline peanuts will hold you until you get to Muir Woods, you%26#39;ll find a snack bar there. You can buy sandwiches, pastries, etc. to eat there with a view of the redwoods. Maybe you can do that while perusing your park map that you will get at the entrance station. Picnicking is not allowed on the park or on the trails for environmental protection.
P.S. There is a small entrance fee to Muir Woods ($3.00 per person, I think). If you have the Golden Eagle pass (best recreation bargain in America, no contest), the fee is covered.
Looking for a quick bite to eat between SFO and Muir WoodsMy favorite delicatessen in the area is the New Bait Shop on the very northern edge of Sausalito right on the way to Muir Woods. From highway 101, after you cross the Golden Gate Bridge and are coming down the hill towards Mill Valley and the Muir Woods exit, take the Sausalito/Marin City exit and take the first left onto Gate 6 road, you will see a cafe and the deli. They make GREAT sandwiches. Muir Woods is the next exit on the freeway going north.
