Any recommendation on a place to stay in or around Bakersfield - looking for a good B%26amp;B or similar with charm ?
Bakersfield - Need a place to stay ?
The best place to stay is at the Doubletree Hotel which is right off the 99 Highway. The hotel is well managed and the rooms and service reflect it.
Unless you are spending alot of time in Bakersfieled, there is no need to venture far off the Highway to find a place to sleep.
Cheers!

We really don%26#39;t have any B%26amp;B type places here. The Doubletree is a good recommendation. www.doubletree.com/en/dt/hotels/index.jhtml…
It%26#39;s near the freeway, gas and restaurants of varying prices (fast food to steak house). Depending on where you are heading you might want to go a little extra distance for a B%26amp;B in another town if you really prefer that.
I wanted to mention that if you do end up staying in Bakersfield, a fun place for lunch or dinner would be Buck Owens Crystal Palace. It%26#39;s near the Doubletree. I don%26#39;t know if you are familiar with country music, but he%26#39;s a well-known singer with most of his hits in the 50%26#39;s and 60%26#39;s. He lives in Bakersfield and often performs at the restaurant/mini-museum he built. I%26#39;m not a big country music fan myself, but it%26#39;s a fun place to go. Here%26#39;s the site: http://www.buckowens.com/food.html
Thanks for the inputs.
Double Tree it is then.
Hi, we are attending a convention at the Rabobank Arena May 26, 27 %26amp; 28th.
Can someone recommend a hotel in close proximity to the convention preferrably Walking distance?
driving is okay too. We are not familiar with the Bakersfield area, and I am just trying to find something that is close by
Aloha!!
Buck Owens place is great, but you won%26#39;t see him there. He and Bonnie Owens both passed away recently.
If you are into country music this is a fun place.

Yes, we lost Buck after my previous post.
The Holiday Inn Select is right there at the convention center. I haven%26#39;t stayed there, but the lobby, restaurant, and meeting rooms all look nice.

(FYI-on their website they mention Centennial Garden Arena--that%26#39;s the old name for Rabobank Arena)
Thanks...the Holiday inn select was booked as were most other hotels for the convention. I managed to get a room at the Hilton Garden Inn. A short drive so thats okay.
Now, is Buck Owens Crystal Palace worth going? Is the food good? any other recommendations as far as restaurants? Man I jsut LOVE this site!
When we go it%26#39;s usually on Sundays, when they have brunch. I think the food is good. It%26#39;s also decorated fun inside and out, so that makes it an interesting experience.
You also might want to try some Basque food. We like Woolgrower%26#39;s off of Baker St. and Benji%26#39;s on Rosedale Hwy. Your hotel should be able to give you directions from their location. Meals are served in several courses, so it%26#39;s a LOT of food! :)
Thanks for the input.....I%26#39;ll check it out!
