where to go from Las Vegas - ???

I will be in Las Vegas on the 17th September for a conference for one week and are planning on taking another three weeks to tour around. i will be departing from either Los Angeles or San Francisco. Can anyone suggest how to spend three weeks

where to go from Las Vegas - ???

Here%26#39;s some suggestions:

Grand Canyon, then out to the California coastal route. I.e. Santa Barbara up to San Francisco. Stop and see the towns along the way. Big Sur, Carmel, Monterey, Santa Cruz. See San Fran, and the redwoods in the Central coast area. I would normally recommend San Diego too, but I took a 3 week trip along Australia%26#39;s east coast last year, and your beaches are better than San Diego! (Loved Byron Bay!) Note I skipped LA, stop there if there%26#39;s something you really want to see, but be prepared for a big traffic jam.

Hi Vicky.

So it%26#39;s from sept. 25 till oct 15 you%26#39;re touring around by car?

In three weeks after LV there%26#39;re many possibilities to travel around.

Just to name a few: Zion, Bryce, Arches,Canyonland, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Yosemite, Sequoia, Joshua Tree, Capitol Reef, Canyon de Chelly,Mesa Verde and many many other Nat. Monuments and Parks, State Park Historical Sites and beautiful places like Sedona, Santa Barbara, Monterey/Santa Cruz, hw 1, Lake Tahoe, Mono Lake, Lake Powell, Antelope Canyon.

And to give you a good route, it%26#39;s essential to know from where you leave. I suggest San Francisco, although I had a great times in LA as well, but better SF in the end of your trip. Do you like driving or better stay at a couple of places and relax by the pool. Do you like to hike? Many questions. Please let us know and we try to figure it out.

Vicky, There is a thread by Barrow-in-Furness called ';21 days in California (and Vegas!!!), which covers many of your questions. He has gotten about 70 replies I think, with all kinds of information. I think the last post was May 5 or so, but if you put Barrow-in-Furness in your search box, it may come up. Take a look at it.

In addition to Tet%26#39;s ideas, I think you might want to consider spending some time driving part of the California coastline.

Hi Tet

Sorry for the delay but have been interstate. We will hire a car and drive around and also I love hiking etc...

Assuming you%26#39;re departing from LA maybe this is what you like.

Day 2: Visit to Grand Canyon

Day 3: Grand Canyon-Monument Valley

Day 4: Monument Valley-Mex. Hat. Gooseneck SP-Moki Dugway-Natural Bridges NM-Blanding.

Day5: Blanding-Moab. Visit Canyonlands Island in the Sky in the afternoon

Day 6: Arches NP

Day 7: Moab-Green River-Hanksville-Capitol Reef-Torrey and scenic hw 12 to Bryce Canyon NP.

Day 8 Visit Bryce in the morning and to Zion NP.

Day 9: Zion NP

Day 10 Zion-Las Vegas-Death Valley Furnace Creek

Day 11: Visit to Death Valley and to Lone Pine.

Day 12: Lone Pine-Yosemite NP

Day 13: Yosemite NP

Day 14: Yosemite-Napa

Day 18: Cambria-Santa Barbara-Los Angeles (Coastal Hw 1)

Day 19: LA

Day 20: LA

Day 21: Back to BNE

This 21 days Grand Circle will lead you to many awesome sites but it%26#39;s ambitous, lots of driving and there are many other thing to see along this route. If you like, me or other posters will give you details and probably others will give you alternative routes. You could decide to shorten the route and stay longer at places to do more hiking.

So many opportunities in this part of the world. So many side trips too. Don%26#39;t forget to buy a National Parks Pass at the entrance of your first NP. Saves you money.

I would not miss Sedona Arizona if you can. The Grand Canyon is a pretty nice short ride from Vegas. Perhaps visit the Hoove Dam on the way. See Grand Canyon so you can say you have been to one of the 7 Wonders.

But then drive on down to Sedona, via Flagstaff. Sedona is awesome and just so magical. Stay two days.

I%26#39;d back track up to Utah to see Zion and Bryce if you can. Then perhaps over to Lake Tahoe and San Francisco.

But I would plan the trip to start by going to Sedona.

Zion National Park is a short drive from Las Vegas - an hour and a half or so - Don%26#39;t miss it. It will be gorgeous in September.
