I was just about about to book the Renaissance now that it had all been decided that it would be the best place to stay...and then I found Villa Delle Stelle on the net, and it looks amazing, so now its back to the two of you, can either of you comment on this establishment ?
Look forward to your replies as usual.

My husband and I stayed in the Parisian suite at Villa Delle Stelle last month, and we absolutely loved it. It was like staying in someone%26#39;s grand estate. Everything is of the highest quality - bed linens, towels, robes, furnishings, television. It was so incredibly comfortable and luxurious.
The owner and her assistant couldn%26#39;t be more welcoming and genuine. There is a great deal of history about the place, so it would afford you not only a lavish place to stay, but interesting stories as well.
There are several good restaurants within easy walking distance.
I recommend it highly!!!!

I must confess that I have never heard of the Villa Delle Stelle until your posting. Interestingly, it has a ranking of #16 out of all of the 171 L.A. hotels that are rated here on Trip Advisor -- so that says a lot that it can rank so highly. (Of course, the Renaissance is ranked #2!).
Obviously, this is a very different experience than the Renaissance: 3 rooms versus 637. The only thing I%26#39;ll say about it is the neighborhood. It%26#39;s not a BAD neighborhood but it%26#39;s a lit bit away from the city centre (10 minutes by car). In the evening, the area shuts down except for the Denny%26#39;s Restaurant that is adjacent. There isn%26#39;t much of a ';neighborhood feel'; there -- certainly nothing in the way of pedestrian traffic (people milling about).
The neighborhood by the Renaissance is alive until late at night. There are people (locals and tourists) walking about, lots of restaurants and shops and something like 6 movies running within 2 blocks of the hotel. There are street performers and the aforementioned ';super hero impersonators'; on the street, t-shirt shops, etc.
So, it%26#39;s up to you. If you want to be ';where the action is';, I%26#39;d say the Renaissance; if you%26#39;d like it to be a little bit quiet, I%26#39;d go for the Villa. I do like the fact that the intersection of Hollywood %26amp; Highland has great public transit -- buses and a metro rail station that covers most of the areas of interest to tourists. The villa is also a few blocks from a metro station and there are buses there as well but you will need to ride a little bit longer to get to most things.
Hope this helps!
Good luck.
thanks HopSkipJump - its back to the Renaissance - I am going to book it tonight, so cant change my mind again. You have been such a help. Thank you
