Catalina Island

We are traveeling form england this summer and are thinking of doing a day trip to Catalina from Long beach.

A few questions arise.

Is there a quieter day to go during the week.

What is the best way to see the island avioding the crowds.

should we think of doing an overnight stay. If so are there any reasonably priced hotels that can be recommended.

any thuoghts would be appreciated.

Catalina Island

It will probably be quieter during the week, unless a cruise ship is in port.

Avalon is so small you can just walk around the town. Most hotels require a 2 night stay. The Pavilion Lodge is reasonable and has a very convenient location.

Catalina Island

Avalon is a tiny town, and unless there%26#39;s a cruise ship in it will be ';quiet';. The water temp isn%26#39;t very warm, but I would recommend a snorkelling trip, otherwise you only get to see half the island! I was there in November and the water was very clear.

Tuesday and Wednesday are cruise ship days. Do not plan day trips for those days. Thursday is probably the quietest day.
