My husband and I just returned from Fort Lauderdale and Miami at the end of March and had a wonderful time. From what I could see, there is fun for anyone from18 yrs. and up. I have visited California several times and also like it, but Miami area has a flair of its own. South Beach is a must see with lots of trendy shops and hotels in the ';Art Deco'; style. There are a many sidewalk cafes with lots of people watching. Bayside Market Place is a nice place to visited during the day in Miami with lots of shops and places to eat. Also there are daily boat tours of Millionaire%26#39;s Row (homes of well-known celebrities) and other sights that depart daily for a fee of $15 pp. We stayed in Fort Lauderdale because we had heard that driving in Miami was a hazzle, but to our surprise, the driving was not any worse than driving in any large city. Thanks be to God, we didnot have any bad experiences. I would definitely suggest visiting Fort Lauderdale if you are driving or renting a car. It is only 30 minutes north of Miami. The Fort Lauderdale beach and Las Olas Blvd. is a beatiful place to see with lots to do. Also the Sawgrass Mills Outlet in Fort Lauderdale (Sunrise area) is very large. I will need to return in order to do all the things we had planned. I personally think that Fort Lauderdale is almost as nice as Miami, depending on your age. Fort L. is a place where you can get a glance at how the wealthy spend their fun time in fine yachts and sail boats. I don%26#39;t think you will be disappointed with Miami. Check out the Miami Tourist site on the web before you go. Hope you enjoy.

Born and raised in Miami (inner city), no cute people watching where I lived. Besides the bugs, heat, and storms...what%26#39;s there not to like. I left Miami in 1977 and never returned, and never will. There is no comparison...San Diego hands down!

It depends when you are going and why.If you are looking for hot, humid, weather all year round then Miami is the place for you. If you want very warm water for swimming then Miami is the place for you.

Otherwise, I think San Diego offers lovely year round climate and beauty. The opportunity to visit ocean, mountains, and desert within an hours drive. Lots of historic sights, restsaurants, shopping, hiking, water activities--We chose to move to sanDieog and NOT Miami so that probably tells you what my opinion really is.

We have visited both in the last year...San Diego is my favorite. The weather is great, ocean was beautiful and a super friendly place...Can%26#39;t wait to return!!

Ditto - unless you like heat and humidity, there is no question - San Diego all the way!!

I%26#39;m stuck in the middle (Texas) now, but I lived in Ft. Lauderdale for about a year and Carlsbad for about a year and I miss them both for different reasons. There is no beating the weather in Southern California. We get about 2 days of ';California'; weather here a year and it always makes me homesick. The topography is also gorgeous. It%26#39;s so neat to be somewhere where everything isn%26#39;t pancake flat. The only downside, in my opinion, is that the water is COLD! Icy cold! And that is exactly what the upside is to Florida. The weather isn%26#39;t as nice. The topography isn%26#39;t as nice. But it sure is nice to be able to go swimming (or scuba diving if you%26#39;re me) at the beach without a 5ml wetsuit and not freeze to death! If I had to pick a place to move back to though... I%26#39;d pick California. I can afford the wetsuit now!
