Balloon and Wine Festival June 2006

Is this too much on the plate for one day?

AM- leave downtown hotel and spend most of the day at Wild Animal Park, follow with dinner nearby (suggestions appreciated)

PM- Temecula Hot Air Balloon and Wine Festival, stay and watch the Balloon Glow beginning around 9pm, then back to downtown (probably carrying the 4 yr old thru the hotel).

Personally, I think that the Wild Animal Park is more than enough for the day (especially w/ a 4 year old). The Balloon and Wine Festival is fun, but it%26#39;s VERY busy and I think the crowds might be a bit overwhelming after a long day at WAP. It%26#39;s also quite a ways from the freeway, one road in/out, so the traffic at the end of the day would be frustrating to deal with, followed by at least a 1 hour drive to return to your hotel. Sorry to be such a downer, but I really do think that this would be too much to try to pack in to one day.

good input...if for some reason a second wind blows our way, perhaps we%26#39;ll do the Balloon festival, but seems unlikely.

Gosh dang it... like we didn%26#39;t have enough stuff to do on our trip! You had to go and tell us about this too! Cool! Thanks. I checked the website and people with no fear of gravity can actually book balloon rides....with champagne and breakfast and pictures and stuff.

nrh,

doesn%26#39;t look like i%26#39;ll make it to the festival, let us know how it went.

i think i might opt for the tethered balloon rides at the wild animal park instead.

have fun!

nrh, Temecula festival is fun - better for adults than with a 4-yr old. They have several bands, beer gardens and wine tasting. If you don%26#39;t make it up there and still interested in hot air ballons, there are a couple of operators in Del Mar that do sunset flights as well. There are discounts at sdreader.com certain times of year.

It%26#39;s a process to get into the balloon festival. ALOT of people, parking, tons of things to see. It%26#39;s not a ';pm'; event. It%26#39;s a day long event. Both things are. Your gonna run yourself ragged.

Maybe enough wine will give me the courage to try a balloon ride, who knows? We checked the price on the reservation site and it was $140!!!!!!!!!! a person for a sixty minute ride. That would take a WHOLE lot of wine to get me to go....and I don%26#39;t even like wine all that much. I%26#39;m more of an iced tea drinker. :)
