recommendation for a sunny June/July beach vacation?

We%26#39;re looking into a California beach vacation in June or July. We were thinking of the LA area (Santa Monica or maybe Hermosa Beach), but the beachfront hotels in our price range are sold out in July and we%26#39;re a little leery of the June gloom. We%26#39;re spoiled by the Boulder sunshine.

Any recommendations for a sunny beach vacation? We%26#39;re looking for someplace with a beachfront hotel in the $200-250/night range, and with casual restaurants within walking distance. We%26#39;re not too worried about an active nightlife scene. We stayed in Coronado last year and had a great time, but I don%26#39;t think we%26#39;re quite ready to go back yet.

If not in California, any other ideas? Florida seems a bit too hot during the summer. Yes, I know I sound like Goldilocks here.

Thanks for any advice!

Boulder Boy, You%26#39;re right about June being a risky month. Even July can be foggy and it%26#39;s a big risk when you%26#39;re talking about your expensive vacation.

Check out Manhattan Beach. It%26#39;s my favorite So. Cal. beach area and has more of the kind a vibe a Boulder Boy might like. Great restaurants in the area too.

I love California BUT why don%26#39;t you guys go to Hawaii. Hawaiian Airlines has a sale on thru June.

Thanks for the advice. Hawaii would be perfect, but we%26#39;re saving that trip for next year (25th anniversay). I%26#39;ll look into Manhattan Beach. Google maps doesn%26#39;t show many/any beachfront hotels, but there are probably condos for rent.

July might be overcast as well - it%26#39;s not just June. But, it%26#39;s too early to tell.

Malibu tends to be clear when Santa Monica is not. Also, look into staying in Ventura or Santa Barbara.

Try the Salton Sea. Well, not. But maybe the Sea of Cortez down in Mexico. San Felipe, birthplace of the fish taco. I arrived in California in June at San Diego and was really surprised at how chilly it got at night.
