Looking for a romanic place to stay in Palm Springs area...

My wife and I are coming to Palm Springs from FL. It is our third trip. We will be there in early November. Hope to miss the hurricanes this year.

We have stayed at the Courtyard and the Hyatt and wanted to try places like Chase, Coyote, Old Ranch Inn, or even Marquis Villas or Mesquite CC.

We are driving in from LA and have travel and golf arranged but are interested in tennis (clay if possible), spa services (does not have to be on site), pool with some atmosphere, a kitchen in our lodging and a romanic environment.

Close to Palm Springs or even out as far a Palm Desert will work.

Our budget is from $120 to $175. Of course we would love to get a deal on the low in and have more for golf.

Your thoughts and recommendatoins are appreciated. I would like to make this our best trip yet.

Sorry, also since we are having to drive in from LA we will be staying close to LAX the night of our arrival. Any suggestions for an inexpensive hotel close to the LAX airport. Thanks.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Tom

My husband and I live in LA and stay in Palm Desert about once a month to get away. We%26#39;ve stayed at numerous places and Marriott%26#39;s Shadow Ridge Resort has been our favorite so far. The location is great as it is off Monteray (not too far from 111) which is close to shopping, restaurants, etc. The Nick Faldo Golf course is one of my husband%26#39;s favorites. I really like staying there becasue they have one and two bedroom villas that have a full kitchen (fully stocked) a full living room, bathroom with oversized tub and detached shower, even your own washer and dryer. It%26#39;s nice that you can park right outside your own villa (no walking forever to get to your room) and the rooms are located right on the golf course. The course lakes and greens are beautiful to look at from your balcony or porch. We were able to feed the ducks from our balcony last time we went. The pools are great as well. WE like to go at night when they aren%26#39;t too crowded. The later you wait, the less people there are. There are several pools and we always enjoy having our privacy at the pool and jacuzzi. Some other hotels in the area have pools that are extremely crowded, even at night. The units are new (5 years old) so everything is new and clean. The units are very nice, granite counter tops, tile floors, etc. They have tennis courts but I don%26#39;t know if they are clay. The best part is it%26#39;s very affordable for what you get. They have specials a lot like buy 2 nights get 1 free, or buy 3 get 1 free. We are going in May for a Thur-Mon trip and only paying $169/night and the 4th night is free. Check out the website. **We also like Desert Springs II JW Marriott, but it is more pricey. You won%26#39;t find anything this romantic, private, classy, and fun for this price. Hope this helps!

Emmm - I saw your post about Marriott Shadow Ridge. We will be going to the Palm Springs area in July and can either stay at the Marriott Shadow Ridge or the Westin Mission Hills Villas. Have you been to both and do you prefer one over the other. Price is not a concern since we wil be exchanging our timeshare. Our biggest concern is having a nice pool, since it will be about 120 degrees when we go? Also, do you have any pictures of them? Not sure if you%26#39;ve stayed at the Westin, but the pictures of the pool that are posting on their website aren%26#39;t good.

Thanks!
