My wife and I will be spending four days in California after touring other parts of the US for about a month. We are unsure of where we would be best to stay. We are not really interested in all the theme parks so Anaheim may not be the best place to stay. We would like to do a winery day tour if possible and also a day trip to Tijuana. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Should we stay at Anaheim, San Diego or elsewhere?
The only reason people stay in Anaheim is to go to Disneyland so if that is not on your agenda go elsewhere. 4 days is actually a very short time to see a state that is as large as California. It sounds like youwill be in southern Cal. so staying inSanDiego sounds like a good idea. YOu can easily take a day tour into Mexico. If you just want to go to TIjuana for the day and not further into Mexico thenyou do not need a tour. YOu just walk across the border. YOu take our light rail trolley system or drive and park to the border. It is about 1/2 hour south fo downtown SanDiego. You can also easily get to the town of Temecula which is about 1 hr. north of downtown SanDiego for the wineries. Let me know if I can help you further with hotel ideas. ?price range would be helpful.

If you aren%26#39;t interested in theme parks then definitely do not stay in Anaheim. San Diego is beautiful (i do NOT recommend Tijuana, do a search to see everyone echo this sentiment), but if you like wineries, then consider staying in Santa Barbara.
