OK, I want to splurge on one really nice meal at The Prado in Balboa park.
Would anyone care to voice their favorite menu item. Tortilla soup seems to get rave reviews along with the pressed salad. I%26#39;m guessing that alone would be pretty filling.
Other suggestions?
Favorite meal at The Prado RestaurantI also love their crab cakes, their mushroom risotto and of course their desserts. Please save room for dessert!

I%26#39;ve heard the crab cakes are to die for.
This seems to be a pretty laid back forum so let me as you - I%26#39;ve never had risotto. Sounds like a dish of rice. Just what is it that makes everyone enjoy it so much?
It%26#39;s funny that you ask because I actually didn%26#39;t order it for myself. I took one of my Korean students(I am a converstion partner for foreign students) and she ordered it. I tasted it and It was ABSOLUTELY LUSCIOUS!! It is rice mixed with all kinds of mushrooms and something else to give it an absolutely rich flavor. I think the best way to go to the Prado is with a few people so you can order a few different things and taste. I also end upo liking a lot of their appetizers so I might order black bean soup and a few appetizers. I have had the pressed salad (with chicken added) as a meal too.
One more thing-the presentation of the risotto was also unusual in that the dish was like a soup plate but on its rim. I guess I am just luck y because I can go back each time and try something new.
It%26#39;s been a while since we last had dinner there, but I do remember my husband LOVED the daily fish special he ordered. It was absolutely delicious and melted in your mouth.
riffsmom,
Unfortunately, going alone this time. I agree, it is so much more fun sharing. I like trying as many different things as possible so I can go home and try them out myself. Several appetizers might be the best way to go - even that is easy to overdo when you are by youself.
Thanks for the tips
nm If you decide that you want some company at The Prado let me know. since I am retired I can arrange my schedule any way that I want.
riffsmom,
That%26#39;s a really nice offer. You must live close to the park. I%26#39;m going on business. Give me a couple of days to schedule my obligations - and see how it fits with you.
The Prado is my favorite restaurant in San Diego. I%26#39;ve eaten there every time I%26#39;ve visited SD. The Pressed Salad is wonderful and I love the kobe beef sushi roll (can%26#39;t think of exactly what it%26#39;s called). My boyfriend had a meatloaf dish there that was wonderful, too. Usually meatloaf is ho-hum, but not at The Prado. Whatever you get will be wonderful, I%26#39;m sure! Wish I could join you!
I love Ahi, and their ahi with black licorice risotto (sounds wierd, but very good) is to die for. I%26#39;m a desert person, so I love their Tres Leches - yummmmmm.
