Lodging With View of Napa Valley

Seeking recommendations for an inn or separate cottage that will offer a view over the Napa Valley--but w/o the statospheric prices of Auberge and w/o the ';extreme Victorian'; decor of Castle in the Clouds. Looking for something more rustic and it doesn%26#39;t need to have lots of amenities. The separate cottages I%26#39;ve checked all seem to be tucked back amongst the trees, which is very nice, but that%26#39;s exactly the environment I live in, so a getaway demands something different.

It%26#39;s next to impossible to get a hilltop view overlooking the Napa Valley without going into some serious credit card debt. All of the places we know of start at $400 per night, and run to well over $1,000 per night. If you stay in early December or anytime in January, the rates run about 40% less.

Did you see our post re the Christian Brother%26#39;s retreat and conference center? They have rustic accommodations (few amenities), but a wonderful, relaxing location.

Suite 202 has a gorgeous view of vineyards and their tiny lake, but does not have a view of the entire valley. It%26#39;s walking distance to Hess Collection Winery.

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks Russ and Sharon--I will check out the Christian Bros. Retreat. Which accommodations are in the $400 range? Maybe I can snag a special rate if one ever exists! :)
