Walk From Best Western to Downtown Plaza area; Safe?

Thank you everyone for all the great advise on this board.

I am staying at the BW Dry Creek Inn and would like to walk downtown from some shopping and dinner. On mapquest this shows to be about 1 mile which is okay distance wise for me. But is it safe to walk alone at night along this path.

As long as you stay on the sidewalks, you probably will not get hit by a car.

Oh! That%26#39;s not what you mean? That area is a mix of businessses and some houses. It does not appear to be well lit and definitely not heavily traveled by tourists on foot.

I would advise you to not take such a risk. It only takes one kook to ruin a perfectly good vacation. Would you be up to it? If you don%26#39;t play on the front line of a football team, and packing, probably not!

I agree with StateRef--during the day, not a problem, but at nite and by yourself, it%26#39;s really best not to risk it. Healdsburg has its own taxi service and that short of a distance should be very inexpensive. Once you get to Dry Creek Inn, ask the front desk for their best recommendations once you know the time you%26#39;ll be going to the Plaza area.

The sidewalks are a bit uneven in certain places, that would be my concern. However, on our last visit, we were walking from the BW and noticed a bus stop a few feet up. So I guess there%26#39;s a bus that runs, you could check that.
