I%26#39;ll be visitjng in a few weeks. Have been to the City many times but never to a lounge with a view. Won%26#39;t eat dinner there but don%26#39;t mind if there%26#39;s a restaurant on site.
I know of the Cityscape Bar and Restaurant, I think in the Hilton on O%26#39;Farrell. It could be a place like this or something more local and not a chain type operation. Probably will just have a drink around happy hour so I don%26#39;t care about a ';scene';--just a good view and nice place. Thanks.
San Francisco Lounges with a View
Plenty of places. Here%26#39;s a few to get you started, in my order of preference, though it just depends on where you%26#39;re going to be:
The Mark Hopkins Hotel: Top of the Mark
Sir Francis Drake: Stardust Lounge
Marriott ';downtown'; (4th and Market): bar at the top
Bank of America building (or whatever it%26#39;s called now -- prolly 555 California): Carnelian Room ; carnelianroom.com/page/o9ly/Home_Page.html
Hyatt Regency Embarcadero: Equinox Lounge; …hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp
San Francisco Lounges with a View
Top of the Mark (great martini bar as well as great views)
The Starlight Room
Those are the two I always recommend. Very classic, ';old'; San Francisco.
As others have said Top of the MArk. Keep in mind that after the music begins there is a cover charge of like $10 per person and this even applies if you got there before the band begins. They will add the charge to your bill.
Good information. I see where the Starlight Room has bands and a cover ($10) after 8:30 on weekends. Do you know if that%26#39;s the same as Top of the Mark where they would charge the cover even if you were there before 8:30?
If not, maybe I could see going to Top of the Mark for a drink and dancing at the Starlight Room after. Sounds like a good night.
Maybe we were posting at teh same time. Yes at Top of the Mark they will charge you even if you are already seated when the music begins.
Correction on Stardust Room. Starlight Room in the Sir Francis Drake. Doh.
Have not been in Cityscape for ages. Killer views from there, but not much soul.
