Hi! I have a conference in San Diego July 3-8 and my best friend is going with me! We are looking for fun things to do, day and night. I did used to live there so I%26#39;m familiar with the area but that was twelve years ago. We%26#39;ll also have a car and plan to go a beach one day...we love to shop, go to the spa, and indulge in a drink or two at night!
Give me your recommendations for fun things to do!
TIA
Cynthia

Due to my conference having 20,000 delegates, I opted to Priceline my room so I could also have work pay for a rental car. We are staying at the Radisson Harbor View on Front Street, which should be close to Sea World, Balboa Park, and San Diego Zoo
Gas Lamp Quarter, Seaport Village, Old Town, and Little Italy if I%26#39;m not mistaken?

The Radisson Harbor View is just a few blocks from the main part of Little Italy. I%26#39;m not specifically familiar with the hotel, but do know it%26#39;s quite close to the restaurants and shops of Little Italy, and also to the wonderful Extraordinary Desserts on Union Street. It%26#39;s a central location - blocks to Little Italy and the San Diego (light rail) trolley that can take you to Mission Valley, Old Town, or across downtown to the Gaslamp if you choose not to walk. Parking downtown is at a premium, so if you can take the trolley (or walk), it would be easier and cheaper than driving.

You will be a few miles - but easy access to Sea World. Just up the hill a bit is the Zoo and Balboa Park. I love walking through Balboa Park and visiting the gardens and the craftsmen (women) in Spanish Village. There%26#39;s lots of good museums there if you%26#39;re interested in that, and the Prado in Balboa Park is an excellent restaurant.
Fun shops in Little Italy as well as Gaslamp and Horton Plaza, lots to do downtown - visit the USS Midway, shop at Seaport Village, or take a ferry over to Coronado. You can rent bikes on Coronado and ride a wonderful dedicated (no cars) bike path that runs down the strand that connects Coronado to the mainland. http://www.thebigbay.com/
There are some wonderful pedestrian bridges in Bankers Hill, not far from your hotel. The Spruce Street and Quince Street bridges are historical, and give you spectacular views of San Diego Bay, and the wonderful homes in Bankers Hill.
