We are staying in Santa Rosa due to a meeting that my husband must attend-would like to visit wineries close by with good merlots and cabs- any suggestions?
Wine Visits
Definitely make a visit to Paradise Ridge Winery (www.paradiseridgewinery.com) which is loc%26#39;d in no. Santa Rosa in the Fountaingrove area. Their very attractive tasting room is on a hill overlooking the city and Wed. nites they are open for sunset viewing and wine tasting. But get there before dark so you can tour the impressive, large sculpture garden that%26#39;s set amongst the oak trees. Paradise Ridge%26#39;s Merlots and Cabs have both won gold medals.
Other wineries that are very worth visiting inc. Pride Mountain (www.pridewines.com) just no. of Santa Rosa off St. Helena Rd. You will need to make an appt., but it%26#39;s worth it. Ask if they%26#39;ll be tasting both Merlots and Cabs. In the Healdsburg area (a short distance no. of Santa Rosa) are: Rodney Strong (www.rodneystrong.com) on Old Redwood Hwy. for their Alexander Valley Merlot; Mill Creek (www.millcreekwinery.com) for their Dry Creek Merlot; Dutcher Crossing (www.dutchercrossingwinery.com) on Dry Creek Rd. for their Alexander Valley Cab; Raymond Burr (www.raymondburrvineyards.com) on W. Dry Creek Rd. for their outstanding Cab.
