Hi folks,
On Mike%26#39;s refurb site it says that this ride is down until Dec 15. Now, I think I remember that it said that last year too, but it reopened early, at the end of October. What i want to know is, is this the general down period for this ride each year, and what are the chances that it%26#39;ll come up early again?
Thanks!
California Screamin' refurb
Are you perhaps talking about California SOARING?
California Screamin' refurb
I just checked the Disneyland website and it shows nothing about California Screamin or Soaring over California, being shut down. I hope its not cause were going in 12 days, and those 2 are our faves!!!
The latest I know about California Screamin%26#39; (the Large Roller Coaster at DCA) is that it is still scheduled for closure on September 11th, after the Summer season is over, and hopefully will re-open on December 15th.
This is different than last year%26#39;s closure, which was unplanned, and was due to a multi-train collision due to a change in the breaking system, which had faulty valves. It reopened when the State inspectors approved the modifications and changes to hopefully prevent another accident from happening in the same way.
This year is designed for regular maintenance and painting.
Thanx Darkbeer. So, based on previous years, do the refurbs for each ride happen about the same time each year? We%26#39;re planning 5 - 19 Nov 2007, and I%26#39;d hate to not be able to go on Screamin%26#39;!
Also, in regard to ';the same time each year';, but on a different topic - does the Christmas parade begin on a random date in November each year, or is there a set time frame? Thanks in advance for everyone%26#39;s shared knowledge :O)
This year is the FIRST scheduled major refurb for the ride.
Last year%26#39;s closure was not scheduled, it happened due to an accident, and the state of California required it to remain closed until certain repairs/modifications were made.
Hopefully, after this year%26#39;s refurb it won%26#39;t have to close down for a few years.
They have extra trains, and one is usually having a major refurb at any time, and then they can do track maintenance overnight. But they want to do a major track refurb and paint, so they need to close for three months.
As for the Christmas stuff...
The normal pattern is for ';it%26#39;s a small world holiday'; opens on the first or second Friday in November (This year, November 10th), and on the same day, the Large Christmas tree appears on Main Street, and all the decorations have been installed (they start a week or so earlier), plus the Christmas Fireworks and other Holiday related events start, except for the Christmas Parade.
The Parade usually starts the week of Thanksgiving, which is November 23rd this year. So maybe the 17th. Entertainment schedules are normally not released until a couple of months in advance, so there is no announced date yet.
