My boyfriend and I will be in LA from Jun 7th to 12th. Would it doable for LA + Vegas in 5 days? We can still change our flights if we need to stay longer, but not too much longer cuz we need to be in Toronto, Canada by Jun 14th the latest.
Any suggestions for what to do while we%26#39;re there? The only thing I have in my plans right now is Disney (Wanted to go there for the sake of going there, because that%26#39;s the only Disney in the world that I haven%26#39;t been) But apart from that our schedule is really flexible. Would it be too cold to hit the beaches in early June?
Another questions is where to stay. Any recommendations for both LA and Vegas? We are willing to pay up to $200 USD per night.
Thanks in advance!

LA and VegasIt%26#39;s definitley do-able, but just depends on what you%26#39;re planning to do in Vegas. Most people just go for a weekend anyway. Is it your first time to Vegas?? You can easily spend an entire day or 2 just walking around all the hotels if you%26#39;ve never seen them before. Are you planning to drive to Vegas? Don%26#39;t forget it%26#39;s about a 4-5 hour drive one way, so there goes half a day right there. If you%26#39;re planning to go, I would recommend you going to Vegas during the first part of your trip in L.A......the 7th - 9th. It will be a LOT less crowded and hotel rates will be cheaper as well.
The weather will definitely be warm enough in L.A. at that time to go to the beach.
LA and VegasFly to Vegas - spend one night there. It%26#39;s cheaper to fly roundtrip than it is to drive, and takes only 45 minutes each way.
For suggestions on what to do while in LA, please check our FAQs sticky at the top of the Los Angeles Forum...
It%26#39;s doable. You can do LA 3 nights/Vegas 2 nights for example then head up to Toronto from Vegas.
If you just want to do Disney, then probably stay in Anaheim. Depending how you like it, you can easily spend 2 days at the disney resort. We%26#39;ve stayed there the whole weekend and never get tired of it. There%26#39;s a bunch of hotels near the Disney resort for about $200 night. There are also tours from Anaheim that can take you to Newport Beach and Fashion Island as well as the outlets in Cabazon. Unfortunately, you will be coming before the free shuttle offer from Anaheim to Universal Studios which will be starting July 1, I believe.
As the previous poster mentioned, read the frequently asked questions sticky from the LA forum. June is usually June gloom esp by the coast. The beach waters here in California are cold but wear a cardigan or sweater and you%26#39;ll be fine. Sometimes, the clouds clear out by the afternoon. If you%26#39;re more inland, it%26#39;s warmer and can even be hot, and skies are clearer.
Thanks for the repies! I%26#39;ve done more research last night and came up with a few more questions:
I have changed my flight to Toronto from LA to Jun 13th, so hopefully that would give me more time to see LA and Vegas. I am planning to buy a round-trip ticket from LA to Vegas, probably for 7th to 9th as suggested by jcena. Where would be a good source to buy cheap tickets to go to Vegas?
This question is more like a question for Vegas. We would like to see the Grand Canyon. Would it be better if we go on our own or join a local tour in Vegas?
I forgot to mention in my previous post that we%26#39;re in our 20%26#39;s and we like hip and trendy hotels. Maison 140 looks pretty nice. I saw on the internet that Maison 140 is offering an early bird booking for their Parisian rooms for ~$179 a night. Has anyone stayed there before and can provide some comments? Are there other choices that would be similar? If $200 is not enough we are willing to pay up $250/night if needed.
We will be renting a car as we like to go all over LA seeing sights and doing shopping. Would Beverley Hills be a good base? Keep in mind that we will be going to Anaheim for one day...
Would the weather be warm enough in early June to actually swim in the beaches?
Beaches would be cold to swim in next month. June isn%26#39;t too warm around the coast in my opinion. Lately, the coast is cooler compared to where I live which is in the San Fernando valley. It%26#39;s in the 60%26#39;s around the coast and it%26#39;s grey, but it%26#39;s been in the 80%26#39;s around my neighborhood and sunny. It seems once you go North of the Getty Center on the 405, it%26#39;s warm and sunny. South of the Getty Center on the 405 it%26#39;s grey, cloudy and cool.
If you have a car, Beverly Hills would be a great base. It%26#39;s not a bad drive to Anaheim, but keep in mind during rush hours you would hit traffic.
Not sure about the Las Vegas to Grand Canyon question. I took a tour from LA to the Grand Canyon years ago which stopped in Vegas for the night.
My husband and I stayed in LA for two nights, we did Beverly Hills, walked down Rodeo Drive, drove down Sunset Blvd. until we hit pacific Coast HWY and drove thru Mailbu, Santa Monica, and Venice Beach. We also went to Hollywood Blvd, wax museum and walked. We even ate a hotdog at Pink%26#39;s on Labrea (yum). We left for Vegas on Friday morning at 9:30, stopped at Denny%26#39;s halfway thru the drive, and we still made it to Vegas by 2. we were in Vegas for 3 nights, and that was plenty of time for us.
I think you could do it, we had a blast!
Grand Canyon is about a 5 hour drive from LV, maybe a little longer by bus. There are helicopter tours available.
