Los Angeles to Yosemite - where to stopover?

Hello

We are 2 couples from Ireland visiting California in June. We are travelling ffrom LA to Yosemite (Portal) but are not sure where to stopover for 1 night in between. Any suggestions?

Are you sure you want to do a stopover? You can do this trip in about 4 hours, and there%26#39;s nothing too scenic worth stopping for along the way. If you wanted to include another scenic location, you could visit Sequoia NP first, spend the night there, then head on to Yosemite from there,

I totally agree with Macjack. Having lived for a time in Fresno and driving to the LA area many times there is really no good stoppping point. Think about leaving after the morning commute -if it%26#39;s a weekday. Stop for lunch in say Bakersfield or if you can wait try Delano or Tulare.

The route through Merced will be about 4 hours to there and then about 1.5 hours to El Portal from Merced.
