Hi! My husband and I are moving to Fresno this summer. We are hoping to buy a house. Any suggestions on areas to avoid, areas to look into, anything else. We are moving from the Seattle area, so we are not familiar with Fresno at all. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi there,
To answer your question about where to look for a home in Fresno there a few different factors to consider. If you prefer to live in a more urban/walkable neighborhood then I would suggest the Tower District. Nearby Fig Garden also has beautiful scenery with its mature landscaping. If you prefer a suburban neighborhood with good schools then I would recommend far northeast Fresno or Clovis (you want Clovis Unified School district). Sunnyside/SE Fresno is also a rapidly growing area and some of it is in the Clovis Unfied School district. For the most part, the areas to avoid would be those west of the 99, as well as the south and east central parts of the city. I know this may seem confusing! Your best bet is to come explore the area, and be prepared for a lot of driving because this is a rather sprawling city. Good luck and bring some sun screen!

It is a hard to generalize city about areas but Jenn did a fairly good job, I%26#39;d only want to point out that while she said ';for the most part';, there has been some new construction west of Highway 99 that is upscale. For example Running Horse Golf Course is an area of new homes and a new golf course that will start hosting a PGA tournament next year.

Another new growth area, if you want to build or buy a fairly new suburban home is northeast Clovis. The Harlan Ranch master planned community area starts construction soon.

You%26#39;ll also want to consider work locations since some traffic corridors can be tough during rush hour. The city has grown over the last 20 years from a rush minute to a rush half hour. LOL
