Is the Town and Country Resort a nice place to stay that has enough to do if one just feels like hanging out at the hotel and relaxing. Also, is there shopping within walking distance?
Need infor about the ';Town and Country Resort in San Diego
The Town and Country is an OK place to hang in. A nice pool and some restaurants.
Fashion Valley Mall is a short walk from the hotel across the San Diego River. This is San Diego%26#39;s best shopping center, IMHO with a nice food court, movie theatres, Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus, Penney%26#39;s etc. There are several big restaurants: Cheesecake Factory, that Chinese place I can%26#39;t think of the name.
Between the mall and the hotel is a major transit center including a Trolley stop. One stop to the east is the Hazard Center with more restaurants and limited shopping. Two stops east is Mission Valley Mall (old, but some good shops, more restaurants). Two stops to the west is Old Town. You can change there to go downtown / Gaslamp.

I stayed there in January attending a conference. It was an OK place to be. I really enjoyed just hanging out at the pools while I was there, eventhough there was some construction going on that caused some noise sometimes. And agree with the above post, Fashion Valley Mall is great and an easy walk from the hotel. The really negative thing about this place is the restaurants. The service was ridiculously unsresposive and rude and the food only so-so. Avoid them if you can and take advatage of the places to eat over at Fashion Valley. One other thing....the front desk staff were fantastic! Some of the best I have ever experienced.
Thanks for the info about ';Town %26amp; Country Resort'; and the shopping places. This will help.
Shopping! If you get to Mission Valley Mall check out Nordstrom Rack. They have some good prices, we always make it our first port of call when visiting SD.
