We have two nights at Curry Village (6/14 and 6/15) and had one night at Tuolumne (6/16). NPS called and cancelled the Tuolumne reservation since the area will be closed. Nothing is available in Yosemite for 6/16 and 6/17.
After Yosemite, we were planning one night in Milpitas and going to Paramount%26#39;s Great America, but this can be changed.
What should we do with this one or two night? Sequoia and Kings Canyon, NP? Monterey? Santa Cruz? Other area attractions?
On 6/18, we%26#39;re heading to SFO for four nights, and I don%26#39;t think we need any more time there.
Any suggestions for a family of four, 2 adults, 2 boys (7 and 9).
Thanks
Tuolumne Meadows reservation cancelled, now what?
I%26#39;d visit Sequoia and Kings Canyon. We%26#39;ve got two nights booked at the Wuksachi Lodge on the 10th %26amp; 11th before we head up to Yosemite on Monday for 5 days.
Tuolumne Meadows reservation cancelled, now what?
Or what we ended up doing last year when our reservation was cancelled due to snow was to head over to Gold Country. We satyed in Jamestown and had a wonderufl time - we went panning and digging for gold with a picnic lunch one day - actually found gold (my son 7 and his friend 8 had a blast digging and playing \in the stream), went river rafting (class 1 %26amp; 2 rapids, brought our 3 1/2 year old with us) and also walked around Columbia State Park (they enjoyed the Stagecoach Ride and looking at the old dentist tools). There is also a train ride you can take in Jamestown.
Also, you may want to look into the Evergreen Lodge, they might have a cabin availble - it is near the Hetch Hetchy entrance and is an easy drive into the park. Hetch Hetchy is nice and much less crowded than the Valley.
Sacramento has a great train museum and the Jelly Belly museum is in Fairfield.
Sequioa %26amp; Kings Canyon are beautiful but a lot of extra driving.
You could check out lodging in Groveland and that location would give you the opportunity to check out the Hetch Hetchy area which is also quite beautiful.
Oh, we like groveland and gold panning, the train in Jamestown is a blast and Columbia State Park just beyond Sonora is fun too.
www.StayNearYosemite.com will give you a diverse group of properties from a working ranch to one of a kind b%26amp;b%26#39;s and country inns.
www.TCVB.com is the Tuolumne County Visitor Bureau website with ideas and contacts on all the things to do in the area.
Have a fantastic trip!
I like Murphy%26#39;s (the other wine country) and Calaveras Big Trees State Park up highway 4 also.
