Hi!,
We are going to be in Yosemite June 18th %26amp; 19th staying in Mariposa. From Yosemite, we want to head to Mammoth Lakes, easy if the Tioga Pass is open but if it%26#39;s not.......
We would visit Yosemite for most of the Sunday and then drive some of the way to Mammoth Lakes in the evening. Then on to Mammoth Lakes in the morning. Is anyone able to recommend the best alternative route with somewhere to stay over night along the way? I can see on the map that highways 4, 88 and another road (maybe the Sonora Pass?) would get us there but don%26#39;t know about anywhere to stay along them. Also, some idea of the driving times involved (starting from the valley) would be handy.
Thanks a lot,
Jamie.

Strawberry is a good stop along the way, on the Sonora pass, beyond town, somewhat remote, but not quite into the wilderness. Strawberry would be about 3 hours from the valley. Then another maybe 3.5 hours to get to mammoth the next day.
this is a cute litte ';town'; with an inn/restaurant/bar along the river and a general store across the street.
www.TCVB.com is the visitors bureau website and will give you some links and contact information.
Have a great trip!
