I%26#39;m coming to LA in 2 weeks and need to get from Anaheim to Santa Monica on a saturday morning. I can%26#39;t drive so need some way of traveling, what would be the best way to do it?
Anaheim 2 Santa Monica
One option would be to take Metrolink or Amtrak from Anaheim to Union Station. I don%26#39;t know the schedules off-hand. But, if you visit their respective websites, I%26#39;m sure you find the schedules and fares. The trip takes about 30-40 minutes.
Once you get to Union Station, you can catch the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus #10. It will take you to Santa Monica via the 10 freeway with a couple of detours along the way. My parents take it often when visiting. I%26#39;ve taken it myself and find it very useful. Again, be sure to check the schedules for this route beforehand. The trip to Santa Monica should take about 30 minutes depending upon traffic which should be okay on a Saturday.
If you%26#39;re so inclined, you might want to walk across the street to Olvera Street. This is the historic heart of Los Angeles. There%26#39;s a Mexican market and some interesting shops selling various things Mexican. You can also pick up a great sandwich at Phillipe%26#39;s It is just a couple blocks north on Alameda.
Also, understand that Union Station is a very large building with many distinct areas. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to make your transition from the train to the bus.
