Hi, I will be in San Diego from [June2-4] FRI-SUN with a buddy. We want to mainly experience the nighlife (since we are from Miami), but also some hot beaches. We are considering the following two hostels in the gaslamp district:

AND

They are both about $60 for a private room. Quite inexpensive given the location. It would be better to stay at a hotel, BUT I was not able to find any hotels in the area at an affordable price [about $100].
Can anyone tell me which of the two is a better choice, or if you know of a budget hotel in the area or even in a different location that your can recomend. Thanks in advance!

Citizen I think either one would be OK. There is also a hostel called theBanana Bungalow on the beach at Pacific Beach. Here%26#39;s the problem-given that yu 2 are from Miami our water will be absoutely freezing foryou and in June we have this phenomenon called ';June gloom'; where the coastal clouds hang low over the beach and make it gray and cool.
IN a previous post I think someone suggested that you try priceline. First you go towww.biddingfortravel.com and they will explain to you how to bid for a hotel onpriceline. People have gotten some of the downtown hotels for$100 I would try that first. If they don%26#39;t like your bid then you are not out any money.

Just bumping it up to see if I get some more input. Thanks guys!!!
My cousin%26#39;s daughter stayed at the HI-SD downtown last summer, and really enjoyed it. I think either would be fine. You might also want to checkout the newly renovated YMCA that is now known as the 500 West - an European style hotel similar to a hostel, but with a great exercise area and attached to the Grand Central Cafe at the corner of Broadway and India - great location near the bay, and close to Little Italy and the rest of downtown -
