Which beach hotel?

Coming in late July and have found 3 hotels that have rooms and are within our range, Best Western Blue Sea Lodge and Surfer Beach Hotel in PB and Ocean Beach Hotel in Ocean Beach. Any input on which is better? My first criteria is to be on the beach.

Which beach hotel?

All three are motel type places on the beach. Ocean Beach has a more surfer/hippy feel as a neighborhood. It has bars,restaurants,

shops, antiques tores and not a lot of hotels.

Pacific Beach has bars, restaurants, and in addition a cement path for biking,roller blading,walking etc. It is also near more hotels and a roller coaster.

Which beach hotel?

I%26#39;d definitely chose PB over OB. PB is a fun area with lots of shops, restaurants within walking distance. The concrete walk along the beach is great for walking, biking and people watching. Mission Bay is pretty much right across the street and is also good for more of the same and renting water sports stuff.

PB hotel choice? Probably a wash, although I think the Surfer has bigger balconies and supposedly has been renovated not too long ago, but can%26#39;t swear to either. They%26#39;re both beachfront in a good location right next to each other on Pacific Beach Drive. Just so you know there is a small public restroom between both in the small parking area on Pacific Beach Drive, So if you%26#39;re not asking for oceanfront you may want to ask to NOT be put in a room facing PB Drive, at least not on a lower floor.
