NEED Advice: 1 night in napa, best hotel location, friday...

we are traveling from San francisco on a thursday, heading to Sterling, lunch, then Schramsberg, check-in, then dinner. Then Friday: Mondovi, lunch, Domain Chandon then heading back to San francisco to catch a 10:30pm flight home. What time should we start heading back to San francisco, is there friday traffic in that direction? (i assume, yes)

Also, with the Winery%26#39;s we chose we are stuck between Silverado Resort, Elm House Inn. Any other places that are good in terms of location and nice. We only want to spend around $200 since we will just be sleeping there one night.

Is our winery selection okay? should we squeeze in a few more?

If you were starting from the town of Napa, we would advise leaving for the airport at least 3.5 hours before your flight leaves.

But this depends on where in the Napa Valley you will be when you start out for the airport: The town of Napa is 1.5 hours from SFO, while Calistoga is about 2.25 hours from SFO (depending on traffic). So you%26#39;d need to budget a bit more time if you%26#39;re leaving from further ';up valley';.

Friday evening traffic into the City can be bumper to bumper from 6pm to 8:30pm, depending on the weekend and what%26#39;s going on in SF.

You may want to consider going back to SF early (say, 4:30 or so), and having a nice dinner in San Francisco, before going to the airport. That way, things will be less rushed.

You have selected all large wineries (nothing wrong with that), but it%26#39;s almost as though you chose them from a tourist guide. Bear in mind that part of the fun of staying in Napa is meeting the locals and visiting the smaller places-- both for lodging (B%26amp;Bs/Inns), for wineries (over 100 small/family owned places), and food (lots of great small places, with a very personal touch). If you choose a small place to stay, they%26#39;ll be happy to suggest all kinds of fun places for you and help you with the reservations.

If you just prefer larger places, or big hotels, that%26#39;s cool too. But do keep in mind that some of the most magical moments in Napa happen on a personal level-- meeting the locals, trying out new wines or foods, or staying at someone%26#39;s home (a B%26amp;B or Inn).

Whatever your preference, we hope you have a wonderful time! :)
