I know this is really late notice, but I%26#39;m headed down to the area tomorrow with my husband and 15 mo old daughter. The last time we were in the area, we lunched at Red House Cafe in PG. Though they were very accomdating with our daughter, it was a bit cramped. Is there another restaurant of comparable quality that would better accomodate a 15 mo old.
Also, any suggestions for dessert?
We got to the Monterey Peninsula pretty fequently, so I%26#39;d love to get recommendations even if it%26#39;s not in time for our daytrip tomorrow.
Thanks!

Try Taste Cafe and Bistro on the corner of Forest Avenue and Prescott in PG. Wonderful food (at lunch they serve a salad with a skewer of grilled shrimp and a side of their famous au gratin potatoes--yum), varied menu, and spacious enough. The owners have four young children, so should be accomodating, Here%26#39;s their number if you want to call ahead: 655-0324.
Dessert: if you%26#39;re in Carmel, Patisserie Boissiere (at Carmel Plaza) has great pastries and excellent coffee; in PG, just up the hill from Taste Cafe is Bechler%26#39;s--they have a nice room with a fountain where you can sit and enjoy dessert. Their pastries are all made on the premises by the owner. If you just want to grab an ice cream come, there%26#39;s a funky little place in downtown PG, a few doors beyond the post office near the corner of Lighthouse and Congress. It used to be called Rocky Coast, but I think the name has changed. Just around the corner from there is Caledonia Park in case your daughter needs some time to run around and go on the swings.
Have fun!

I would go to Schooner%26#39;s Bistro at the Monterey Plaza Hotel %26amp; Spa. You will have valet parking, and if the weather is nice, dine out on the spacious patio over the water. Your toddler will enjoy being outdoors and taking it all in. They have great food and very yummy desserts. The key lime pie is excellent and the also make an awesome brownie sundae type thing. The fish and chips are very good as is the clam chowder. We have been discussing a day trip to Monterey, very soon! Have fun, will you be visiting the aquarium with your daughter? :)
Taste is a good choice, but they don%26#39;t have booster seats. If she fits in a high chair still they have those. They don%26#39;t have a kids menu, but are very accommodating in making what you want for kids. My kid%26#39;s favorite is up Carmel Valley at Cafe Rustica. They have a great kids menu, not your average deep fried stuff and very kid friendly. The outdoor dining is nice for kids.
For dessert, we like to head to Ghirradelli on Cannery Row. They have a nice outdoor area that is on the water, and what kid doesn%26#39;t like ice cream! (me too for that matter)
For a casual restaurant we like Peppers in PG.
Muffy
Taste was wonderful. They were very accomodating with us (not that we need much.) It wasn%26#39;t crowded at all on Thursday at lunch, so that was a plus.
We didn%26#39;t do the aquarium since weren%26#39;t there long enough. When we do the aquarium, we%26#39;ll probably make it an overnight trip so we don%26#39;t have to worry about leaving early to drive back home.
Thanks for the restaurant suggestion. It has been a long time since my husband and I have had meal at a nice restaurant. It was really lovely for us.
I%26#39;m so glad you enjoyed Taste and that it was a good place for your daughter. Let us know next time you come--I%26#39;m sure we%26#39;ll all have lots more suggestions!
