Hi,
I would be staying for 5 days in Anaheim (near Disneyland). I plan to use this hotel as my base for my visit to :
1. Disneyland (3 days)
2. Universal Studio ( 1 day)
3. San Diego Zoo and Underwater World ( 1 day)
Questions :
After a 24 hour flight from Singapore ( i would be arriving LAX @ ~8am), is it advisable to head to Disneyland upon hotel check in?
I plan to buy the California City Pass.
Or, would the jet lag give me a hard time?
I have already booked my hotel upon arrival. If it is not advisable, then is there anything I can do in Anaheim on the day I arrive?
Disneyland could be done with on the next day.
Also, once I`m done with Disneyland and Universal Studios, should I move to San Diego and get a hotel there or travel to San Diego from my base in Anaheim using a coach service?
How much does a coach service cost and how long is the ride? Would it take me straight to the Zoo?
Thanks a lot !
My Itinerary
Jet lag is a bit of a ';personal'; issue. When I fly from here to Singapore, I find that I stay up 10-12 hours and then try to get accustomed to hte local time zone (usually waking up about 4 in the morning.). You may be similar or might not be. I%26#39;d recommend trying to get used to the local time zone (Pacific Standard Zone) and if that means - heading off to Disneyland, then that is a great ideal. It is fun, lots of walking, outdoors, and most likely help with getting adjusted to the new time zone quickly. If you decide that you%26#39;re too tired, then there are shopping, restaurants, etc. in the area to enjoy till you decied to get some sleep. I%26#39;d suggest looking into taking Amtrak (our train) from Anaheim to San Diego and getting a hotel there. That%26#39;s the bewst way to enjoy it. There are trolleys/bus service in San Diego (the San Diego forum has lots of good answers to how to do this (i.e. best hotla, locataion, etc. to enjoy the Zoo and Balboa Park area). The local experts in San Diego are also very good and can answer this if you don%26#39;t find yuor answer. Enjoy your trip!
My Itinerary
I%26#39;ve always found the ';westerly'; plane ride to be a lot worse than the easterly one. When I flew back from China a few years ago, it took me 2 weeks to stop falling asleep during the day and being up all night. If you want to ';push yourself'; with Disneyland on the first day, that is your decision, but if I were you, I%26#39;d try to get some sleep. (Even if you sleep only 1/2 the normal sleep cycle, you%26#39;ll be better off than no sleep at all)/. When you get to your hotel (which will probably be around 11am, climb into bed for 3-1/2 to 4 hours (have the reception wake you at 3pm). Then, unpack, take a little walk, do some light shopping, have dinner, take it easy and try to get back to bed by 11 or so.
Regarding San Diego, Amtrak (the national rail company) offers a transfer (bus) to the San Diego Zoo area from their main rail station. When booking your reservation on AMTRAK,COM, simply put in SAN DIEGO ZOO as your destination, and the system will respond with the rail trip plus the bus trip. I wouldn%26#39;t move to San Diego for just one day. Why pack and unpack again?
