Dining in Sonoma

Hi.

My girlfriend and I will be staying in Cloverdale for three nights. What are some great restaurants in that area? For that matter how about great restaurants in the entire Sonoma Valley? We have a rental and I%26#39;m not averse to putting many miles on it. Thanks.

Sonoma has several great places that we love! the girl and the fig, the Harmony Club @ the Ledson Hotel, Cafe La Haye, El Dorado Kitchen and the General%26#39;s Daughter are all very nice.

In Forestville, don%26#39;t miss the Farmhouse Inn, very romantic, excellent food and service. For a nice breakfast in a more casual setting, check out the Big 3 Diner at the Sonoma Mission Inn, Sante their formal restaurant also has very good breakffasts, it is located right off the main lobby at the SMI.

Bon appetit and enjoy Sonoma! :)

I’m assuming you chose Cloverdale way at the no. end of Sonoma County since you’re visiting family/friends there? :) I don’t know of any exceptional restaurants currently loc’d in Cloverdale. Your best bet is to drive so. (about 20 min.) into Healdsburg where you’ll fine a huge number of excellent restaurants. Just some of my favorites are Zin, Cena Luna, Willi’s Seafood, Manzanita, Dry Creek Kitchen at Hotel Healdsburg, Bistro Ralph and Restaurant Charcuterie--all near the Plaza in the heart of town. You can also travel an even shorter distance so. from Cloverdale to the Geyserville area and go to Coppola Winery off Souverain Rd. (it was formerly the Chateau Souverain winery) which is a beautiful facility that offers wine tasting, light lunch and dinner--and gorgeous views across the Alexander Valley. Also in the Geyserville area is an interesting tasting room called “Locals” (Geyserville Ave. and Hwy. #128) which has dozens of different wines available for tasting. It’s worth a stop, but check for days/hrs. they’re open: www.tastelocalwines.com. Driving thru the Sonoma Valley to the town of Sonoma will take you over an hr. one-way. Restaurant recommendations/comments abound on the Forum and Review postings--so be sure to read all about the many great Healdsburg and Sonoma restaurants.

Well, darn--the restaurant at Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville apparently is only doing light lunches right now (sandwiches, salads, etc.). They are in the process of reinventing the restaurant and hopefully, will offer dinner again sometime soon. Go anyway for tasting and a bite to eat as the view is wonderful. Their site is at www.ffcwinery.com. For a special dinner, instead, consider Madrona Manor on the N/W outskirts of Healdsburg. Beautiful Victorian mansion on a hill surrounded by acreage and gardens (but not the pano view that Coppola has). Website is www.madronamanor.com
