First time in LA

I am staying in LA for one night 8th October @ 8400 Sunset Boulevarde which i beleive is just near the House of Blues.

Can you suggest a comedy venue or bar nearby we could go to?

My girlfriend %26amp; i are in our late 30s and are looking for a bar for a drink and then to a comedy venue or nightclub.

Looking for something more upmarket and non touristy if possible?

Practically right across the street is the Comedy Store.

That whole stretch is bar after bar (mostly in hotels, all ';upmarket';). Standard, Mondrian, Sunset Tower, Chateau Marmont, Bar Marmont, Sunset Marquis...all walking distance from your hotel.

The Sunset Tower Hotel is the most upmarket place for a drink. It%26#39;s located right down the street. The Tower Bar is a beautiful space off of their lobby. http://www.sunsettowerhotel.com. As other posters mentioned, the Comedy Store is a good comedy club. I tend to prefer the Laugh Factory though, it%26#39;s located on Sunset at Crescent Heights Blvd... a few blocks from your hotel. nice casual clothes are fine. Los Angeles is not a ';jacket and tie required'; kind of city.
