Made our way up the steep hill on Lombard to Hyde/Powell cable car stop mid-morning. I love this stretch of Lombard Street after Van Ness up to Hyde. Got some pictures and took in the views of one of the crookedest streets. It was a partially cloudy day but good walking weather. The cable car had enough room for us to sit on the outside. We had picked up our 3 day Muni passport at the airport, but noone checked or asked us for our fare. It was interesting, but this happened on 2 of our 5 cable car rides. The second time, the grip man said, ';I guess ';he'; thinks you have an honest face';. Found the cars to be crowded but not overly so.
Got to Union Square and on to Macy%26#39;s 8th floor, to Cheesecake Factory to get our name on the list. I had heard about the long waits but was pleasantly surprised we only waited about 20 mins on a Fri. We sat inside and the place is nicely decorated. Ordered the soup, salad, bread combo with a couple of margaritas. For dessert I ordered Tirimasu Cheesecake (decadent) while my husband had the Berry Almond. We were stuffed so we walked it off going into several stores and sat in Union Square Park for a while. Stopped in at Gold Dust Lounge for an afternoon drink. Continued on to Metreon and got a Coffee and sat outside at Yerba Buena Gardens.
A homeless looking guy around the Gold Dust said to my husband, ';You know how I can tell she likes chicken, because shes holding on to the wing';. I had my arm interetwined through my husbands. We got a kick out of this, and the fact he didn%26#39;t ask for anything. In retrospect I should have given him a dollar for his joke. I did purchase one of those street scene papers later on and actually read it. Saw another woman giving a dollar but refusing the paper.
Caught the Hyde/Powell line again to the Wharf around 5:30 pm and it wasn%26#39;t a long wait. Got off and over to the Cannery to purchase tickets at the Greenroom for thier comedy show at 8:30. Walked over to Giradelli for a few minutes and then stopped in at Lou%26#39;s and had a drink and listened to the live music for awhile. The comedy show was okay for the price. Had wanted to go to Cobbs or Punchline but wasn%26#39;t that excited by the acts, so Greenroom seemed a more convienent location.
Rode the same cable car line back to Lombard and took the downhill walk back to our room.
Trip report day 2, 9/8
crazy, you did everything you could in one day. Regarding the homeless, there are some nice people and some bad ones. Regarding the cable cars and checking your fare, you had your passes and the conductor must have this sixth sense, cause you are an honest person. Rest up, many other things to see and do.

Thanks for the reassurance Chumley. Was wondering if I should have packed more into the day.
