public transportation from Long beach to Westwood

Could someone please tell me the best route for my daughter and her friend to travel from CSULB to Westwood via public trans? I see they can take the blue line then the red line on the rail system. To save time they could take a taxi to the blue line stop from the campus. Which would be the closest stop to campus? Also on the red line which is the closest stop to Westwood? Will they be safe if traveling back at night?

Thanks in advance

Hello looblue,

The closest Blue Line station from CSULB would be the Willow station. Your daughter and her friend could take the #01 92, 93, or 94 buses to downtown Long Beach and catch the Blue Line from there. Those buses go right through the CSULB campus at and have two stops, one by the fountain and the other by the library and Liberal Arts buildings.

That being said, Westwood isn%26#39;t close to any of the Red Line stops as it%26#39;s too far to the west, so I would not recommend taking public transportation from CSULB to Westwood. However, it is safe for them travelling on the blue line and red line at night but the public transportation system is sporadic at night and on the weekends.
