Restaurants & Shopping near Catamaran Resort

I will be staying at the Catamaran Resort. Any recommendations of places to eat, things to see or shopping close to the resort. We are not planning on renting a car.

Restaurants %26amp; Shopping near Catamaran Resort

Your hotel is across the street from the ocean in Pacific Beach. It backs onto Mission Bay. On the MissionBay side there are 27 miles of pathways where you can walk, rent bikes etc. You can also rent ';water'; toys to use on the bay. There is a boat that goes out for dinner cruises as well.

Along th eocean there is also a pathway. You can do any number of beach activities. There are small eclectic clothing, surf ,an dcraft shops along the main streets.

Nearby is an old fashioned wooden roller coaster with some other rides.

You are not too far away from Sea World but you will need a taxi to get there . I fyou want to try and use busses here is the web site for public transportation.www.sdcommute.com

I do not know when you are coming but if you only stay near your resort you will not see much of the city and what it has to offer.

If you%26#39;re not planning to drive you may want to consider a shopping ';tour';. You choose from a variety of full or half day excursions, they pick you up at your hotel and provide the transportation.

Fashion Valley is our biggest ,best and outdoor mall

Bus routes 8 and 9 are your ticket out of Mission Beach to connections beyond. They will also get you directly to Sea Worls without transfers. See the sdcommute link Riffs provided for more info.

Calling PB Homey for the MB/PB restaurant roll call!!

What are the ages? Yes, it makes a difference for food spots.

Early 40%26#39;s. I like the calm life.

I have a few recommendations in the area:

Out your hotel and walk a little (South) on Mission Blvd is the Liar鈥檚 Club. The Fuego Steak Melt and the Seared Ahi are great! Great beer selection also.

Other great spots:

Jordan at the Tower 23 Hotel 鈥?go early on Fri or Sat due to the crowds, great food. Week nights are best!

The Fishery on Cass St. 鈥?consider by many the best place for fish in the county (short cab ride away).

Surfside for sushi and other Japanese dishes 鈥?walking distance, north on mission.

There last three recommendations were recently featured on my Web buddy鈥檚 Web site. His name is Jack and he is also a local:

For Thai, I like the Thai Village also on Mission (walking distance). No frills, but good food.

You can e-mail me with any more questions concerning the area. pbhomey at yahoo.com

We will have to go out for breakfast on Saturday %26amp; Sunday. Any recommendations for breakfast near The Catamaran? Also, I think I am going to go to Mission Valley Mall while my coworker goes on a winery tour. She will also want to go shopping one day so I need other suggestions for shopping. Any good outlet malls tht we can get to by public transportation or taxi? We want to buy some gifts while we are in San Diego. I also plan to pack light and buy some fall clothes while I am there.

I hope we don%26#39;t regret not renting a car. I just hate to drive in large cities when I do not know my way around.

I think I meant Fashion Valley Mall. See I%26#39;m not even there yet and I%26#39;m already lost. :-)

dap, You are not so mixed up. There is a MissionValley Mall as well as a Fashion Valley Mall. Here are some public transportation directions.

Take the #8bus towards Old Town. Get off at the Old Town Transit Center. Take the GREENline Trolley towards Santee. Then you can get off at the FAshionValley stop. There is an outlet mall called Las Americas. See:www.lasamericas.com I tis right at the Mexican border. Take the same #8bus to the same Old Town Transit Center BUT this time get on the BLUE line going towards SanYsidro. Get off at the SanYsidro Transit Center(I think it is the last stop) and walk a short way. There is another outlet mall in the suburb of Carlsbad but that would require a bus to the old town trans center. An AMTRAK train goin g north and thenanother bus or cab to the mall. See:

www.premiumoutlets.com/carlsbad

When are you coming to SD and how long will you be here?

Where are you from? I s shopping the only thing you want to do?

Ahh for breakfast... Kono%26#39;s at Crystal Pier. CHEAP and local. Also you can%26#39;t go wrong with The Green Flash. It%26#39;s sit down while Kono%26#39;s is stand in line and then go behind the pier and grab a table over the sand and watch the surfers.

There are all kinds of eateries along Mission Blvd. That is where the Catamaran is located. So just rent a bike and ride around. Flat and easy. You know the 1st Rubios%26#39;s is in PB too. But not walking distance to your place. But if you have never had a fish taco, by all means try one while in SD.

Outlets are a long drive and personally not worth it for a short stay. One is in Carlsbad and the other in San Ysidro. Both over 1/2 hour away. Malls are fine just remember all the stores are basically chains and can be found from NY to HA.

Our bus drivers are pretty friendly to visitors. The buses don%26#39;t get too crowded as most folks live in their cars. So by all means get on a bus, or our trolley. And go!

Bring some walking/jogging gear as you will see lots of folks out in the am and it is always motivating to see others out there.

One question.. What is Fall and what are fall clothes?

Come onSP you know what fall clothing is. It%26#39;s what you wear when the temps go down to the low 70s or high 60s instead of the 80s.

SP means dap, that the seasons don%26#39;t change so much here. What you might find strange is that here the children wear their ski jackets when it rains because it never snows. The stores DO show non summer clothing though since SOME people like a change from

sandals and shorts. It does get cool enough to wear long pants and light sweaters.,especially at night. SP might not buy ';fall '; clothing but the stores certainly have it for sale.
