Will be staying at Wyndham 1 nite, Oct 7. Can anyone recommend a nice place for dinner? Is there anyplace nice in Gaslamp area?

There are wall to wall restaurants of all kinds. What type of food are you looking for?

Italian always goes well. Wife likes seafood.

I would however, rather recommend that you either go to the next neighborhood north of downtown which is our little Italy area. You can walk and read menus along the street . Many people enjoy Buon Appetito although the las t few reviewers on thsi site did not lOVE it. There is a cool wine bar with small tasting palaes of food next door. . it%26#39;s sor tof like Italian tapas(little plates.) They have tons of wine by the glass . Its calledIl Sogno di Vino

One other idea woudldbe to take ashort walk from you rhotel to the bay(straight down Broadway) and take the ferry across the bay(15min) where you will find Il Fornaio. .It will give you a lovely view of the light s of the city .

For Italian I%26#39;d go for Little Italy. It%26#39;s closer to the Wyndham than the Gaslamp and it%26#39;s a great place to stroll around and just chose by reading menus. For seafood, take the ferry to Coronado and try Peohe%26#39;s - great views of downtown, terrific food %26amp; atmosphere!

Thanks for the ideas. Since we will be in Carlsbad the rest of the week, I am sure we will back to San Diego for dinner a few times. All these ideas sound great.
