Chinatown shops open late?

Do most of the markets and shops in Chinatown close at end of work day, or stay open late?

in regards to the produce and take out foods with roast ducks hanging from the windows, those store close by 6pm. There are restuarants open late like Yuet Lee at Broadway and Stockton, but Stockton street looks like a ghost town. Grant Ave, one street east, has souvenir shops open till late, about Washington St to California. I%26#39;d actually suggest North Beach and Grant Ave and Columbus Av, just keep walking, many shops and eateries stay open late there.
